‘The Great Space’, was the runner up in the competition for designing the UK’s pavilion at the 2020 Expo in Dubai.
Giles Miller Studio collaborated with lead architects BDP to conceive and develop the scheme, which focussed on the importance of looking to the universe together to re-shape how we see the world.
A creative team including leading UK astrophysicists at Jodrell Bank, Tim O’Brien and Teresa Anderson, formed a UK collaboration of science, music, architecture, art, landscape, sound-scape, lighting and video technology to inspire and amaze. The design was the runner up in a competition of over 100 entries.
The concept used a strong sculptural environment in combination with rich multi-sensory experiences to inspire visitors to think about and engage with the UK’s role in space exploration, and the importance of the development of technology to enhance our lives on Earth.
