The Penny-Half spherical sculpture brought the studio’s acclaimed surface work into a three dimensional form in the first of our outdoor site-specific sculptures.
The structure appears as a mass of light that evokes a kind of digital chaos, but in construction it is in fact the antithesis of technological and merely mirrors light in a controlled way so as to appear as a kind of double-sided portal, contrasting as well as relating to the surrounding woodlands.
Penny-Half won the people’s vote for the Broomhill National Sculpture Prize.
The piece was intended for a one-year exhibition but has now been installed permanently at the sculpture park in North Devon.
